Fresh expertise on the Council’s Standards Board

Answers in Retirement CEO Stuart Wilson and e.surv technical director James Ginley have been appointed to the Council’s Standards Board.

The fresh appointments were made after Mel Kettle stepped down, having retired from Gateway Surveyors.

James (left) is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and was formally Legal & General Group’s residential portfolio manager. He recently joined e.surv as technical director where he will develop lender and consumer risk propositions.

He said: “I am pleased to be bringing my Equity Release funding and valuation experience to the Standards Board. With so much change in the property market and a maturing ER market I join at a time when we should be embracing change whilst maintaining standards. I look forward to contributing to the Board.”

Stuart (right)has over 20 years’ experience in financial services. He has been the chief executive of AiR Group (formerly known as the Later Life Lending Academy) for almost seven years.

He said: “This year will be pivotal as we evolve the Later Life Lending message to broaden its reach into todays ‘mature generation’ and provide products and high-quality advice for developing and growing consumer demand.

“Standards are at the heart of good customer outcome and I hope I can bring to bear many years of listening to the voices of consumers and many thousands of advisers to ensure we have a robust, high quality and workable process to ensure excellent consumer outcome.”

The appointments were made announced during the 27th AGM of the Council which took place on April 22.

During the AGM Standards Board chair Chris Pond thanked Mel for his nine years’ service to the Council and described him as having made a tremendous contribution to the Council.

It was also announced that Will Hale, CEO of Key, Paul Turner, MD, Retail at Just Group, and Dan Baines, MD of Equity Release Associates, have been re-elected to serve an additional two years on the Council’s 16-strong Executive Board.
