Council appoints public affairs manager
The Equity Release Council has recruited an in-house public affairs manager as part of its drive to continue to professionalise the organisation.
Simon Posner, who joined last month, will be working with and supporting the chairman and the chief executive in all of the Council’s parliamentary and political engagement.
In addition, he will work closely with key stakeholders and support members as required in all public affairs matters.
Simon joins the Council having previously spent most of his career in Whitehall, firstly in the parliamentary branch and latterly as private secretary to the minister of state for transport. Latterly he was the chief executive of a leading trade association in the transport sector.
While in his trade body role, Simon turned the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK into the industry leader in terms of compliance and led the UK bus industry through three major pieces of legislation, aimed at bringing increased regulation to the sector.
Simon said: “I am delighted to be joining the Council at this time. It is a very exciting time not only for the Council but, more importantly, for our members.
“I am looking forward to drawing on my 20 years’ plus experience of running a large trade association but I am thrilled to be concentrating most of time on public affairs, which is where I feel I have most to offer.
“I am really excited to be working with David, Jim and the excellent team that they have built up at the Council.”
