A fond farewell from our chairman

It is with mixed feelings that I hand over the Chair of The Council after nearly six years.

It has been great to oversee rapid growth in our sector.  This year we should break the £3billion mark for new business.  And we have moved from having a handful of only provider members to over 600 members – representing every aspect of the customer’s journey.

I also believe we have put firmly behind us the image issues of the past.  Our media coverage nowadays is overwhelmingly positive.  And our views are taken seriously by government, regulators and media.

I believe that The Council and the sector are poised for a period of even more rapid growth.  And I cannot imagine anyone better to take The Council forward than my former parliamentary colleague David Burrowes.  David brings a wealth of experience to the job, and is a doughty campaigner.  I wish him well, and it is with some sadness that I say ‘au revoir’ to my many friends in the sector.
