These are exciting times for the industry and if your application is successful you will be part of a representative body that has built a sound reputation and is recognised as an authoritative source of information by journalists, Government and parliamentarians from across the political spectrum.

The Council’s aims and objectives are centred on growing the market safely and creating an industry that is able to develop and thrive, encouraging new entrants and expanding safeguards across industry participants. Improving the customer journey, providing unbiased information, educating the consumer, influencing policy and giving customers and others access to Equity Release Council registered members will also be a focus of our work.

The Council incorporates the SHIP Standards Board which is responsible for ensuring high standards across all members. As a member you will be required to confirm you subscribe to the overarching principles of the organisation and if an adviser, abide by the checklist issued by the Council for all customers.

The Council will sit up to three times a year and you will be able to attend the meetings. If appropriate your organisation will be listed in our member’s directory which will be available to customers and others. You will receive regular updates and will have access to a member only part of the Council’s website where you will be able to source information and engage with the Council. You may also be able to join working groups to share your expertise and experience. These groups will be an essential part of the Council and will be tasked with projects that are in line with our overall aims and objectives.
